MILLWOOD FIRE STANDS BY AT SOMERS HQ DURING 2ND ALARM FIRE

Just after 5:30pm Friday evening, Millwood FD was requested to relocate Ladder 52 to Somers Volunteer Fire Department Lincolndale headquarters as Somers FD was operating at a 2nd alarm structure fire. Car 2253 (Chief Nestro) and Ladder 52 responded with a full crew to Somers and met with our standby partners from South Salem Fire Department Engine 167. Ladder 52 and Engine 167 responded to a commercial alarm for Somers FD, in which a malfunctioning alarm was proven to be the cause of activation. Members returned to Somers HQ and stood by for over 7 hours, as members from Somers, Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD, Mahopac Fire Department, Mohegan Lake Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Fire Dept, Croton Falls Fire Department, Katonah Fire Department, Golden's Bridge Fire Department, Town of Putnam Valley Fire Dept, Kent Fire Department, Brewster Fire Department, Continental Village Vol. Fire Department, Bedford Hills Fire Department. Millwood and South Salem members later assisting Somers members with rolling out frozen hoselines from the scene. Millwood units were back in service around 1am Saturday morning.
