November 9, 2019

At 5:40 yesterday morning, Millwood FD Tanker 15 was requested to assist the Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD at a structure fire in their district. Yorktown units arrived and were met with heavy fire conditions throughout the structure. Due to the location of the fire and the lack of hydrants in the area, Tanker 15, along with Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department Tanker 10, Bedford Hills Fire Department Tanker 5, Continental Village Vol. Fire Department Tanker 11 and Somers Volunteer Fire Department Engine 188 were utilized to shuttle water into the scene. Millwood members assisted Yorktown, Croton, Bedford Hills, Continental Village, Somers, Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department, Ossining Fire Department and Montrose VA Fire Department members on scene with fire suppression operations and the extensive overhaul that followed. Millwood units operated on scene for approximately 7 hours.

While returning to quarters, Tanker 15 stumbled upon Croton Tanker 10 which suffered a minor fire in the engine compartment. Thankfully, no one was hurt and Tanker 10 was back in service less than 6 hours later!
