Just before 5pm last Wednesday, Millwood FD was dispatched with Briarcliff Manor FD, Ossining VAC, Chappaqua VAC, and 36 Medic1 to a reported rollover accident with a vehicle on fire on the Taconic State Parkway northbound. The incident was quickly upgraded to a head-on collision with victims trapped in both vehicles. Car 2252 ( AC McCarthy ) and Car 2253 ( AC Santone ) arrived on scene moments later and confirmed the head-on collision with heavy fire and multiple parties trapped, as well as the parkway being blocked northbound. Upon his arrival, Car 2251 ( Chief Rodrigues ) assumed command. Millwood and Briarcliff Manor FD members immediately began fire suppression and victim extrication efforts. Due to the number of potential patients, Westchester EMS 45Medic1, 45Medic4, Hawthorne FD EMS, and Sleepy Hollow VAC. were requested to the scene. Unfortunately, this incident resulted in the loss of four lives. Millwood FD sends our deepest condolences to the families of the four lives lost.
