On Saturday October 24th the Millwood Fire Company No. 1 held a small ceremony to say goodbye to its beloved home of over 90 years at 60 Millwood Road. 45 year member - Assistant Chief Jan Schwark spearheaded the arrangements. The flag in front of the Firehouse was lowered, 60 year member - Neil Gollogly said a few profound words and the Members marched to the new Firehouse at 100 Millwood Road where the same flag was then raised. The ceremony was full of meaning although symbolic in nature as the Fire Company couldn't move into it's new home quite yet. After a few closing remarks by 40 year member - Chief Greg Santone, the small group of FF's, family and close friends were treated to a tour of the new Firehouse, coffee and donuts. Many pictures were taken and Commissioners Hala Makowska and Alan Schapiro also made brief remarks highlighting the volunteers tremendous commitment to the community and the important part the new Firehouse will play for years into the future.
