A few weeks ago Polly Eisele-Tyrrell stopped by the new Fire Station hoping to find someone to show her around. I was so happy to have been there and really enjoyed showing my childhood neighbor our new facility. Polly's father was a longtime Secretary- Treasurer of the Millwood Fire District until the early 1980's. Polly's brother Willy was also a member of the Fire Company for several years in the late 80's and early 90's.

Then.... just last week I received a call from 50 year + member, Ex-Chief, Past Commissioner Ed Orser from his South Carolina home. He asked if I had a few minutes. I said sure. He said his daughter Amanda was at the new Fire Station and would love to get in to look around. I told him to call Amada back and tell her I would be their in 3 minutes. I really enjoyed showing Amanda, her beautiful children and her boyfriend the new facility. It was great to see Amanda smile over and over again as she took pictures of her family name "Orser" on so many plaques, captions and awards. Amanda was also able to show her children many wonderful pictures of their Grandfather Ed in his "younger" years in the Fire Company.

And finally....just yesterday I received a call from Dave Reppert, a past Millwood resident and HGHS class of 1966 graduate in town for the 50th reunion. Growing up, Dave had lived in the original "Shingle House" on the corner of Shingle House Road and Pines Bridge Road. Dave is a jack of many trades and at one point in the distant past he had fabricated leather belts for the engine on our beloved original 1924 "LaFrance -Brockway - Torpedo" fire truck. He loved seeing the new Fire Station and the antique fire apparatus he once worked on.
