What a wild night of weather for Millwood!

With reports of a yet-to-be confirmed tornado in town, Millwood FD has been very busy. As the potential tornado tore through Millwood around 5pm, We received 4 calls in 20 minutes. The first was a mutual aid request to Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD with our tanker for a reported structure fire with a victim trapped. Millwood units arrived second due and encountered a smoke condition in the basement but no fire or entrapment. Next, was a report of a tree that fell on top of a car on Shinglehouse Road, quickly followed by a tree that fell onto a house on Quaker Lane with a report of children trapped. Both incidents were found with only property damage and no injuries. Millwood members were out cutting trees and responding to calls for wires down until 9pm. From 5pm last night to 10am this morning, Millwood FD has responded to 11 calls for service, ranging from reported structure fires to wires down to gas investigations to trees blocking roadways and on homes.

With the extent of the damage from this potential tornado, many are still without power. For restoration times, please check with Con Ed or 1-800-752-6633 or visit https://apps.coned.com/stormcenter/external/default.html
