On this day 19 years ago, 2,977 innocent people started their day like any other but never made it back to their families. What was meant to break our spirit only brought us closer together and stronger as a nation. Today we honor those lost, including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 emergency medical professionals. We will never forget the sacrifices these brave men and women made to save thousands of lives.
