Ladder 52 and Tanker 15 Respond to Montrose Multi-Alarm Structure Fire
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

January 16, 2023

Just before 9pm last night, Millwood FD Ladder 52 was requested to standby in Montrose FD HQ with an engine from Continental Village FD while Montrose FD and other departments operated at a multi-alarm, wind-driven, fully-involved structure fire, with brush fires around it. Car 2251 (Chief Raguso) and Ladder 52 responded moments after dispatch. Shortly into the operation, units on scene determined that water supply was becoming an issue in the area, resulting in Millwood FD Tanker 15, Croton-on-Hudson FD Tanker 10, Continental Village FD Tanker 11, Bedford Hills FD Tanker 5, and Pocantico Hills FD Tanker 12 being requested to shuttle water to the scene. Car 2253 (Chief McCarthy) and Tanker 15 responded and worked alongside the other tankers to bring water to the scene from multiple fill-sites, due to water issues at sites, for 3 hours before returning to service.

Around midnight, Car 2251 and Ladder 52 were requested to the scene from the standby, due to its smaller size, to provide aerial support to extinguish hot spots in the heavily-damaged, partially collapsed structure. Ladder 52 arrived and took the driveway to utilize the master stream and run a handline off of it. Millwood members worked with members from Montrose FD, Buchanan FD, Verplanck FD, Lake Mohegan FD, Ossining FD, Montrose VA FD, Continental Village FD, Croton-on-Hudson FD, Yorktown Heights FD, Bedford Hills FD, and Pocantico Hills FD to extinguish the fire and hit hot spots. Car 2251 and Ladder 52 returned to service before 4am.

At 4:30am, Ladder 52 was requested back to the Montrose fire scene for a rekindle, but while in route, was redirected to cover their district. Car 2254 (Captain Santone) and Ladder 52 provided coverage to the Montrose FD district for 90 minutes before returning to service.

Units: Car 2251, Car 2253, Ladder 52, Tanker 15

Mutual Aid: Montrose FD, Continental Village FD, Croton-on-Hudson FD, Bedford Hills FD, Pocantico Hills FD, Buchanan FD, Verplanck FD, Lake Mohegan FD, Ossining FD, Montrose VA FD, Yorktown Heights FD
