At 5pm yesterday evening, Millwood FD and Briarcliff Manor FD were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle fire on the Taconic State Parkway southbound. Car 2252 (Chief McCarthy) was first on scene and confirmed a working car fire on the shoulder. Briarcliff Manor FD Engine 94 was first on scene and began the initial fire attack. Millwood FD Engine 247 was next on scene and pulled their bumper reel handline to assist. Once extinguished, members ensure no additional pockets of fire or smoldering were found, and mitigated any additional hazards in the roadway. Millwood and Briarcliff Manor members remained on scene for 45 minutes before returning to service.
