Just before 2am, Millwood FD Rescue 36 was requested to respond mutual aid to assist Fairview FD in the Town of Greenburgh at a confirmed structure fire as the cascade unit. Rescue 36’s cascade module is a system requested by departments around Westchester to fill firefighters’ air bottles. Upon arrival, Car 2253 (AC Santone) and 4 members on Rescue 36 stood by, helped with foam operations, and then temporarily took over FAS Team functions. A FAS Team is requested at all reported or confirmed structure fires to stand ready outside the structure and is activated in the event of a trapped firefighter. Millwood members then assisted with filling air bottles and helping operating units with breaking down, remaining on scene for approximately 2.5 hours before returning to service shortly before 5AM. |
