Just before 9am yesterday morning, Millwood FD Engine 247 was requested to relocate to Yorktown Heights FD headquarters while they operated at a working structure fire. Car 2253 (AC Santone) and Engine 247 responded moments after dispatch to cover the Yorktown Heights Fire District with a ladder from Somers FD. About 30 minutes into the incident, crews on scene encountered numerous frozen fire hydrants, resulting in Tanker 15 being requested with tankers from Bedford Hills FD, Croton-on-Hudson FD, and Somers FD to provide water to the scene. While Tanker 15 responded, a 2nd Alarm was struck, bringing Car 2253 and Engine 247 to the scene. Millwood members assisted with fire suppression on the 2nd floor of the structure, and then reentered the structure with new air bottles to help with overhaul. Meanwhile, Car 2251 (Chief Rodrigues), Engine 248, and Mini-Attack 10 handled a residential alarm in our district. Millwood units remained on scene in Yorktown for around 3.5 hours before returning to service. While headed back to Millwood, Car 2253, Engine 247 and Mini-Attack 10 responded to another residential alarm to complete a busy day.
