July 27, 2022

Beginning last Saturday just before 10:30am, Millwood FD was dispatched on an ECHO Level response with Ossining VAC and the 36Medic for an unresponsive party. Car 2251 (Chief Raguso) and 2252 (Chief Rodrigues) arrived first on scene and immediately deployed their AED and additional lifesaving measures, which ultimately resulted in a positive outcome. New Castle PD, Utility 44 and 145 also responded. Units returned to service in under an hour.

Just over 2 hours later, we were dispatched to Saddle Ridge Road for an inside odor of gas investigation. Car 2251, 2252, Engine 247, Engine 248, and Ladder 52 responded and determined that a stove had been left on for hours, resulting in the odor and elevated gas levels in the home. Members donned their airpacks and ventilated the home until the odor had dissipated, while also using our gas meters to ensure safe levels in the home. Units were back in service in about an hour.

At 10:20 Sunday morning, we were dispatched to Random Farms Drive for a residential alarm. Car 2251, 2251, Engine 248, and Ladder 52 responded and found that the alarm was accidentally activated. Units returned to service within an hour.

About an hour later, Millwood FD was dispatched with OVAC and the 36Medic to a reported pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Edgewood Road. Car 2251, 2252, and Rescue 36 responded and found that a resident was struck by a vehicle in their driveway. Upon the arrival of OVAC and the medic, the patient was transported ALS to Westchester Medical Center. Units were back in service shortly after the arrival of EMS.

2 hours later, we were dispatched with OVAC and the 36Medic to the Taconic State Parkway southbound for a reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle rolled over. First arriving units found that the vehicle had not rolled over, but left the roadway and landed on the opposite side of the Pinesbridge Road entrance ramp. Car 2251, Engine 248, Rescue 36, and Mini-Attack 10 responded to this incident. The driver was evaluated by OVAC and refused medical attention. Units returned to service in about an hour

Later that night around 8pm, Millwood FD was dispatched to a reported smoke condition in the woods on Seven Bridges Road. Car 2251, 2252, Engine 247, and Engine 248 responded and found the smoke was from an outside fire pit. Units were back in service shortly after arrival.

For the final call on Sunday, Millwood Rescue 36 was requested mutual aid to assist Elmsford FD at a structure fire as the cascade unit. 2251 and Rescue 36 responded with a full crew and filled numerous bottles for the resources on scene from Elmsford FD, Fairview FD, Hartsdale FD, Irvington FD, and Valhalla FD.
