Ladder 52 Relocates to Purchase FD
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

April 18, 2023

Just after 11am yesterday morning, Millwood FD Ladder 52 was requested to respond to Purchase FD headquarters with an engine from our neighbors from Yorktown Heights FD as Purchase FD operated at a prolonged multi-alarm structure fire in Port Chester FD's district. About an hour and a half later, Yorktown Heights FD was requested to move up to cover Port Chester FD's district, and replacing them at Purchase FD HQ with us was Ardsley FD. During the duration of the standby, the fire in Port Chester spread to 3 abandoned buildings and resulted in the need for 10 tankers from throughout Westchester County, Putnam County, and Fairfield County (CT) to be requested to the scene to supply water.

During the standby at 3:45pm, an Alert Level 2 was dispatched for the Westchester County Airport. An Alert Level 2 signifies a potential major problem on an aircraft. Car 2253 (Chief Santone) and Ladder 52 responded with Ardsley FD, Purchase FD, Rye Brook FD, Armonk FD, West Harrison FD, Banksville FD, Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS, Harrison EMS, Chappaqua VAC, and Empress EMS. Just upon arriving on scene at the staging area, the alert was cleared and all units were placed back in service, returning Millwood FD and Ardsley FD back to cover Purchase FD's district.

After over 5 hours covering Purchase, Millwood FD Ladder 52 returned to service in Millwood.
