Right around 2 pm Sunday afternoon, Millwood FD Tanker 15 was requested to stand by at Greenville FD's headquarters due to a major water main break in Greenburgh, which was limiting water to hydrants in their District. Tankers from Northern Westchester are sometimes requested to stand by in fire districts experiencing municipal water main issues to deliver up to 3,000 gallons of water immediately in the event of a fire when fire hydrants are not operational. Millwood FD Car 2253 (AC Santone) and Tanker 15 have already responded to one motor vehicle accident and an electrical utility issue with Greenville FD, and remain on stand by to respond with Greenville FD. Bedford Hills FD and Pocantico Hills FD also provided tankers to stand by for departments in Greenburgh during this water emergency. Meanwhile, full crews remain in Millwood and have responded to two fire alarm activations in our district.
Tanker 15 was relieved at 7 AM Monday morning by Tanker 10 from Croton.
